Do you feel like
- you are in perpetual go mode?
- just can’t get ahead (who am I kidding, just caught up would be wonderful)?
- wonder what is taking up all of your time? I mean it’s 4 already?!?! (or 8 pm, 10 pm, midnight…).
Not quite what you had in mind when you decided to start your own business, am I right?
NO. MORE.
It’s time to break the cycle. Time to regain control of your schedule once and for all!!
Can I get an AMEN?!
**record scratch**
“Wait, how the hell am I supposed to do that?” (I’m sure this is what you’re thinking)
Well, let’s start by taking a look at WHAT is taking up most of your time.
Think about it.
No….REALLY THINK ABOUT IT.
Ok, I’ll help you.
When you’re feeling out of control of your schedule, there are usually one of three things going on.
- You struggle to stay focused (cat video, anyone?).
- It’s time to bring on help. There are only so many hours in the day and there will come a point when you LITERALLY can’t do it all by yourself.
- You’re not managing your clients/client work well.
Numbers 1 and 2 are typically easy to identify (if you’re being honest with yourself) and the solutions are fairly simple: close out of Facebook *shudder* and start researching ways to find support in your business.
That last one though, oooo that’s the tricky one!!
It’s so tricky because under “managing your clients/client work” are a multitude of things that could be causing your problems.
Client communication, inconsistent deadlines, client bottlenecks, scope creep – all of these things (among others) can cause you to feel like a hamster on a wheel and desperate for a break. And each one of these issues can have different solutions.
Uncovering which of these culprits is your main time offender can be daunting. Especially when you’re already struggling to keep your head above water.
To start, ask yourself these questions:
- Have I established a solid client onboarding process?
- Do I set and hold boundaries for myself with my clients?
- Have I clearly outlined expectations for my clients?
If you answered no, then you have some really great starting points for breaking the cycle. You know, work, sleep, repeat.
